LAGOS, Sept 30 (Reuters) – Nigeria’s Rivers state has purchased Royal Dutch Shell’s stake in an oil mining licence in the restive Ogoniland region, the state’s governor said on Monday.

The license, OML 11, has been undeveloped for nearly 25 years, since the execution of regional activist Ken Saro-Wiwa under the military government of Sani Abacha.

Strange Tale of Police Corruption on Shell’s controversial Corrib Gas Project

Directors of an Irish subcontractor, OSSL, testified under oath in an Irish court that OSSL distributed bribes on behalf of Shell, including over €30k in free alcohol to the Irish police. The purpose of the corruption was to smooth the path of the controversial Corrib Gas Project, which had attracted huge public protests in Ireland.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Royal Dutch Shell

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider sale was by the insider, Andrew Brown, for €1.7m worth of shares, at about €27.85 per share. So what is clear is that an insider saw fit to sell at around the current price of €27.07. We generally don’t like to see insider selling, but the lower the sale price, the more it concerns us. In this case, the big sale took place at around the current price, so it’s not too bad (but it’s still not a positive). The only individual insider seller over the last year was Andrew Brown. read more

FD Dutch News: Shell, Justice, KLM and hundreds of others internal network ‘wide open’ for months

FD Dutch News: Shell, Justice, KLM and hundreds of others internal network ‘wide open’ for months

The internal network of hundreds of companies, including Shell, KLM and Schiphol, has been ‘wide open’ for months because of serious vulnerabilities in their VPN connection. De Volkskrant writes this on Saturday based on its own research.

A VPN is a security connection between the user and the internal network, often used when people want to work at home on their corporate network. One of the four most important VPN providers in the world, Pulse Secure, suffered a leak that was discovered in March. The leak was resolved in April, but this required companies to update the system themselves. Some companies did not do this until the end of August. read more

The Privatisation of Espionage

Extracts below relating to Shell and Hakluyt from a SPUTNIK article by : 27 Sept 2019 (SPUTNIK IS A RUSSIAN OWNED PUBLISHER)

In 1995, private intelligence agency Hakluyt & Company was established. Its ranks were filled with former members of British foreign intelligence agency MI6 – including Fitzroy Maclean, upon which Ian Fleming modelled James Bond – and also oil industry executives. William Purves, CEO of Shell Transport, was chair 2000 – 2008, Peter Holmes, former Shell chair served as the agency’s president, and Peter Cazalet, former BP deputy chair, helped set up Hakluyt before he retired in 2000. read more

Shell gives up Kazakh oil field development

English translation of an article published by beursonline

“Shell gives up Kazakh oil field development”

Posted on Sep 26, 2019 at 4:49 PM | Reactions: 2

THE HAGUE (AFN) – Shell is currently refraining from developing an oil field in Kazakhstan. So far, the oil and gas giant has failed to make the Kalamkas-Sea oil field in the north of the Caspian Sea profitable. Insiders say that to press agency Bloomberg.

Shell is working with industry peers such as the Italian company Eni on the development of Kalamkas-Sea. The efforts of energy companies to reduce the costs of the project failed. In order to continue the development on Kalamkas-Sea, Shell and industry peers must still find a way to realize the development more cheaply. read more

Leaked Emails Involving Senior Shell Security Managers

Use your browser to enlarge image

By John Donovan

I have published several articles over the years naming many Shell senior security people. They include the MI6 hires referred to by Royal Dutch Shell CEO Ben van Beurden in a wiretapped telephone conversation relating to the OPL 245 corruption case.

Some of their names have come up in leaked emails that have recently appeared on the Internet. I have combined the various emails into a single document.

The email participants include a former senior British Secret Intelligence Service (SIS) officer, Ian Forbes McCredie who until December 2010, was VP Corporate Affairs Security, Shell International B.V.  Mr McCredie is closely associated with the private spy firm Hakluyt sometimes described as the commercial offshoot of MI6. When I sent an email to Mr McCredie at Shell, I received an automated response giving me his Hakluyt email address. read more

An environmental activist and legal practitioner Anderson Achilike has in a suit called on the Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami, and the Economic And Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to probe Shell Petroleum Development Company Nigeria Limited.

Achilike in the suit filed on Wednesday at the Federal High Court, Abuja sued Shell Petroleum Development Company Nigeria limited over alleged non-remittance and under declaration of crude oil exportation and shipment; instigation of acts of pipeline vandalism; oil theft; third party interference in trunk line operations; incessant cases of fire outbreak.

Under pressure on climate, Big Oil pitches to the young

Extract by John Donovan from Reuters article:

“The Oil and Gas Climate Initiative, representing 13 major global oil companies, held meetings with around 20 students and young professionals aimed at laying the groundwork for a long-term plan to engage with young people. It took place as top oil company CEOs, including BP Plc’s Bob Dudley and Royal Dutch Shell Plc’s Ben van Beurden, met to discuss the industry’s response to climate change, while Swedish teenage activist Greta Thunberg angrily condemned world leaders and industry for failing to act quickly enough on the issue.” read more

Top Swiss court lets prosecutors help Italian oil corruption probe

SEPTEMBER 23, 2019

ZURICH (Reuters) – Switzerland’s top court has allowed Geneva prosecutors to share with Italy material they seized more than three years ago that could shed light on a case involving oil majors Eni (ENI.MI) and Royal Dutch Shell (RDSa.L) and corrupt payments in Nigeria.

In a ruling announced on Monday, the Federal Tribunal rejected Nigerian defendant Emeka Obi’s appeal to prevent photocopies of items and computer files from his confiscated suitcase from being sent to Italian crimefighters. read more

SHELL HIRED WORLD’S LARGEST SHIP NAMED IN HOMAGE TO A NAZI WAR CRIMINAL

After a massive outcry from Jewish organizations, maritime unions,  the public and the UK government, and extensive negative coverage by the news media, all following a campaign led by John Donovan (above), the shipping company Allseas renamed its vessel. All of the businesses associated with the Pieter Schelte project, including its first client, Royal Dutch Shell, had previously turned a blind eye to the Nazi name. Shell reversed course in the face of the firestorm. read more

THE BEST HISTORIANS SHELL COULD BUY

Use browser to enlarge image

By John Donovan

Shell commissioned a group of eminent “independent” historians (above) mostly Dutch, to author a history of Royal Dutch Shell to mark the Group’s centenary in 2007.  The introduction in Volume 1 pledged independent research and “a proper and even-handed assessment of Deterding.” Something went amiss because the “history,” as published in regard to his dealings with Hitler, is simply untrue.

Shell internal communications obtained under the UK Data Protection Act revealed pre-publication jitters at Shell prior to the publication of the four-volume history of the Royal Dutch Shell Group. read more
