Shell corruption that led to blackmail

Screen Shot 2014-06-16 at 17.34.44

The invoice for the alcohol has been the foundation of a two year blackmailing operation with OSSL bombarding money demands on Shell for alcohol Shell had already paid for in full. Consequently, the OSSL invoice is of huge significance in relation to alleged very serious corruption and associated blackmail on an unprecedented scale.

To: INFO <[email protected]>Dear Justice Minster Frances Fitzgerald

I am writing as a follow-up to my email of 4 November 2014.

Your office acknowledged safe receipt in the response sent on your behalf on 19 November.

I believe you will find that a number of TD’s will be contacting you on this matter.

There is a key piece of evidence that I suspect has never received the scrutiny it deserves. read more

OSSL SHELL BLACKMAIL

OSSL is demanding payment for over €30,000 worth of alcohol OSSL supplied to Irish cops on behalf of Shell, which says it entered into a full and final confidential settlement with OSSL in August 2012 and refuses to pay them off again.

Desmond Kane of OSSL outside Shell office in Dublin

By John Donovan

On 16 November 2014 I informed a senior Garda officer about an apparent blackmail operation by an Irish company OSSL being carried out against the Corrib Gas Project, led by Shell.

I supplied details from the most recent blackmail note/email sent by OSSL dated 14 November 2014 to various people at Shell, Statoil and Vermilion.

The following day I received an email from OSSL containing an unspecified threat, which I assumed to be a threat to issue a defamation action.

By coincidence or otherwise, the bombardment of hundreds of money demands to Shell and associated parties over the past two years appear to have ceased on 14 November. read more

Shell offers $90 million to residents of contaminated Carson neighborhood

By Sandy Mazza, Daily Breeze

Just eight months ago, prominent Los Angeles attorney Tom Girardi used words like ”disgusting” and “despicable” to describe Shell Oil Co.

He vowed at the time not to accept a financial settlement from Shell for Carson residents living with widespread petroleum contamination traced to the oil giant. “We want a jury to look at this,” he said in March.

But Girardi’s tune has changed since the company offered $90 million earlier this month to settle the lawsuit brought by Girardi & Keese on behalf of 1,491 current and former residents of the Carousel Tract in south Carson. read more

The hydraulic fracturing techniques used by the US oil companies have revolutionized the US oil industry, leading to high crude oil production from the shale boom. These techniques have allowed the US to produce around nine million barrels of crude oil per day. This in turn contributed to the global supply glut of crude oil. Saudi Arabia has also increased oil production to safeguard its market share from the US producers. read more

Combustible pioneering behemoths – the Hindenburg and Shell Prelude

I am not sure that directly comparing the explosive potential arising from the Hindenburg and the Shell Prelude is strictly appropriate. However, what is beyond doubt is that these pioneering ventures both captured the attention of the worlds media and a loss of containment on the Prelude could potentially create another catastrophic event.

The Shell Prelude, by far and away the biggest vessel the world has ever see, is nearing completion in South Korea. A well placed whistleblower says that Shell management has ignored his warnings over shoddy work in the construction and outfitting that puts safety at risk. read more

Nigeria’s Niger Delta has been see a lot of oil spills over the last 30 years. According to statistics the Niger Delta has experienced more than 400,000 tons of oil spills during this period, and 70% of the oil has not been recovered. While some of the spills have been attributed to ageing facilities and human error, oil theft has also contributed significantly. Oil theft has also led to violence in the region which has caused many foreign investors to quit the region. read more

DUTCH SEEK REVISED GAS DEAL WITH SHELL & EXXON

Screen Shot 2014-10-01 at 20.37.24The Dutch government Minister of Economic Affairs, Henk Kapm, is seeking to renegotiate deals with Exxon Mobil and Royal Dutch Shell on the extraction and sale of Dutch gas. It seems reasonable to speculate that it is not his intention for the renegotiation to benefit the oil giants, who are joint owners of the Dutch Petroleum Company (Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij – NAM), operators of the earthquake prone Groningen gas field.

Screen Shot 2014-09-11 at 23.20.44A High Court in the United Kingdom has lifted a secrecy order imposed on a 2013 legal challenge by The Corner House of a decision by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) not to freeze some $215million alleged proceeds of crime from a corrupt Nigerian oil deal. Shell and ENI have denied paying any money to Malabu Oil and Gas. But they were aware and in agreement that the deal was for the benefit of Malabu.

By Edegbe Odemwingie: 7 November 2014

A High Court in the United Kingdom has lifted a secrecy order imposed on a 2013 legal challenge by The Corner House of a decision by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) not to freeze some $215million alleged proceeds of crime from a corrupt Nigerian oil deal.

The fund arose from the sale of one of Nigeria’s largest offshore oil concessions, known as OPL 245 to subsidiaries of oil multinationals, Royal Dutch Shell and ENI.

Police in the UK and magistrates in Italy are now formally investigating the deal. read more

Oil price slump: fire sale of Shell assets gathers pace

Screen Shot 2014-11-20 at 15.07.17*Royal Dutch Shell Plc has sold a $600 million stake in a Nigerian oil lease as part of its plan to sell off $15bn worth of assets around the world. The fire sale no doubt has added momentum in view of the collapse in the price of oil. Shell has already disposed of under-performing assets in Australia, the USA and in the North Sea. Bloomberg News has reported that Shell may close its Draugen oil field in the Norwegian Sea a decade earlier than intended because of rising costs and the slump in oil prices. According to a Wall Street Journal report, Shell is claiming that it has sold its stake in a set of oil wells and processing plants in the Niger Delta because the company has struggled with oil theft and other security issues. Guess a fire sale is better than Nigerians ending up being hanged for protesting against decades of Shell’s plunder and pollution in Nigeria, exploiting a succession of corrupt regimes.

Bidness Etc discusses the ruling by an Indian court in a transfer-pricing case against Shell and its impact on future foreign investment in the country

Published: November 19, 2014 at 12:26 pm EST

By: Micheal Kaufman

The Bombay High Court has ruled in favor of Royal Dutch Shell plc (NYSE:RDS.A) in a high-tax profile case, which could pose a hurdle to the Indian government’s plans on bringing in foreign investment and much-needed revenue.

The ruling was announced on Tuesday, after Indian authorities claimed tax money paid to transfer shares of Shell. The court has not released a written judgment yet.

The judgment can negatively impact India’s image, which might cause leading foreign companies to hesitate to invest in India. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi can intervene and reverse the ruling. read more

Sad faces at Shell?

Screen Shot 2014-08-06 at 09.25.26Last month, the suits over at Shell put on their sad faces and went to the White House to ask for more time to burn through another billion or two. I tell ya, these guys are gluttons for punishment. After eight years and more than $6 billion, Shell has come up completely empty on its promise to bring a bounty of Arctic crude to market from the Chukchi Sea.

Jeff Siegel has authored an interesting article:

Shale Oil vs. Arctic Drilling

The extract below sets out his advice to Shell on Arctic drilling.

Last month, the suits over at Shell put on their sad faces and went to the White House to ask for more time to burn through another billion or two. I tell ya, these guys are gluttons for punishment. After eight years and more than $6 billion, Shell has come up completely empty on its promise to bring a bounty of Arctic crude to market from the Chukchi Sea. The plan to tap this Arctic flow was devised more than a decade ago — before the U.S. was swimming in shale oil and before consumption rates started falling. Certainly I don’t fault management for moving aggressively on black treasure in the Arctic. At the time, it made a lot of sense. But today, with $80 crude, a boom in domestic oil and gas production, and little chance of ever successfully producing anything more than losses in the Chukchi, Shell really should just chalk the whole adventure up to an unfortunate face-plant and move on. read more

His assessment is surprisingly similar to that also expressed in optimistic terms in March 2012 by Shell EP senior Vice President David Lawrence, then in charge of Shell’s Arctic drilling plans.

Shell blocking Canadian transparency/anti-corruption initiative?

By John Donovan

The Globe and Mail newspaper in Canada has published an article by Alan Detheridge, a former Royal Dutch Shell senior executive. A Vice President of Shell Canada when he left the company after 30 years.

He must have known the company very well after all that time.

If I have not misunderstood the content of his article, he does not seem to trust Shell or for that matter, other members of the oil industry, as far as transparency/corruption is concerned.

His article is about the Extractive Sector Transparency Measures Act, which he says “will go a long way toward helping people in natural resource-rich countries hold their governments to account.” read more

In its latest monthly publication “Shell World,” Royal Dutch Shell plc (ADR) (NYSE:RDS.A) has quoted the International Energy Agency as estimating the company’s global deepwater oil reserves to be around 675 billion barrels. The oil giant stated in the publication that it has enjoyed several successful projects over the decades and some breakthrough achievements regarding global deepwater during the current year.

Strategy For Improving Productivity

Shell stated that its Nigerian Bonga North West (BNW) field, which produced oil in August for the first time, shows the commitment of the company to conducting deepwater exploration activities in Nigeria. The Anglo-Dutch oil giant added that its subsidiary Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo) has taken initiatives in the region to upgrade facilities for local contractors and hold specialized training for workers to improve productivity in the energy sector. read more
