Forbes: Chevron spent $3M lobbying on energy issues in 1Q

WASHINGTON –Chevron Corp. spent nearly $3 million to lobby on offshore oil and gas development and other energy-related issues in the first quarter of the year.
The company also lobbied on legislation dealing with foreign trade agreements,climate change, price gouging, patent reform, tax issues and more, according to the form posted online April 21 by the House clerk’s office.
The San Ramon, Calif.-based company spent nearly $9 million to lobby the federal government in 2007.
Besides Congress, Chevron (nyse: CVX –news – people ) lobbied the White House, Government Accountability Office, Environmental Protection Agency, and the departments of State, Energy, Transportation, Commerce, Treasury and Defense in the first three months of the year.
