It was reported in an article in The Guardian and elsewhere that Royal Dutch Shell CEO Peter Voser has said:
“We would not have drilled the well [BPs Deepwater Horizon] in the same way. We have got other safety procedures across the globe. But I think that for some companies there will be some learning from this.”
I would like to know the reaction of Shell insiders to this statement. The implication is that it wouldn’t have happened to Shell and that Shell has nothing to learn from the disaster. Is this really true?
