Indigenous energy firm, Neconde, has sued International Oil Company (IOC), Royal Dutch Shell in London, for allegedly refusing to make remittances to it after it had bought a stake in controversial oil block Oil Mining Lease (OML) 42. Payments made by Royal Dutch Shell, the major international oil company operating in Nigeria to the federal government increased from $3,638,241,040 in 2016 to $4,322,742,582 in 2017. The rise in payment was as a result of a 10 % growth in production, the oil company said in its 2017 sustainability report published on Monday.

Payments made by Royal Dutch Shell, the major international oil company operating in Nigeria to the federal government increased from $3,638,241,040 in 2016 to $4,322,742,582 in 2017.

The rise in payment was as a result of a 10 % growth in production, the oil company said in its 2017 sustainability report published on Monday.

The company said in the report that output from its operated fields averaged 464,000 barrel of oil equivalent per day (boe/d) while production from offshore and deep-water fields managed by its local subsidiary, Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCo), averaged 167,000 boe/d. A statement by a Civil Society organization monitoring the trial of Royal Dutch Shell and Italian ENI executives over multibillion-dollar bribery has revealed that Nigeria’s Attorney General, Abubakar Malami is working against Nigeria’s interest as he sent a rookie lawyer to represent Nigeria at the court trial. In the opening hearing today, the lawyer identified as Hillary Seidu told the court Nigeria doesn’t want to seek any damages from the indicted multinational corporations.

Niger Delta Avengers Blow Up Shell Facility Again

Militant group, the Niger Delta Avengers, has once again attacked a crude oil trunkline belonging to the Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria in Batan, Warri South West Council Area of Delta State.

It was gathered that the militants blew up the trunkline at 12:05am on Monday morning.

The fresh attack happened around Camp Three, few kilometres away from the spot where the militants had attacked oil installations early this month.

It took soldiers over five hours to locate the spot of the incident and confirm the attack. read more

Unidentified gunmen on Friday killed an oil worker at the Kolo Creek Oilfields operated by Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) in Ogbia local government area of Bayelsa.

It was gathered that the sound of the gunshots fired by the gunmen alerted armed security team stationed to guard the oil installation whose reaction repelled the gunmen to beat a retreat.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) gathered that the remains of the victim of the attack, identified as Mr Austin Igwe, was evacuated by policemen from Ogbia Division and troops of Operation Pulo Shield (OPPS), the Joint Military outfit deployed to the field. read more
