NEW YORK, (Reuters) – Shell Oil Co. said Friday it evacuated 555 workers from its oil and gas operations in the Gulf of Mexico as a precaution against Hurricane Dennis, but production has not been affected yet.
Shell said in a statement that more evacuations could follow.
Dennis, a dangerous hurricane with 135 mph (215 kph) winds, is expected to head into the Gulf of Mexico over the weekend.
