MIRI: The Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) has expressed concerns over an imminent downsizing of staff in the oil and gas industry, said SUPP secretary general Datuk Sebastian Ting (pic) and SUPP information chief Adam Yii

The two told a press conference here that downsizing would also affect oil and gas industry staff working in Miri, adding that affected workers were worried about their fate.

“SUPP has received information that Shell will carry out a restructuring of their businesses in the country and that Sarawak will also be affected, especially Miri,” said Ting. read more

850 jobs at stake in Shell Cyberjaya

Screen Shot 2015-03-18 at 08.01.43

KUALA LUMPUR, March 17, 2015:

Screen Shot 2015-01-06 at 21.26.38Around 850 jobs could be at stake at Shell offices in Cyberjaya as the Anglo-Dutch oil major consolidates its IT functions at a new base in Bangalore, India.

While no decision has yet been made, a senior officer dropped this bombshell during a town hall meeting with staff in Cyberjaya late last month, said sources.

The Bangalore move could also affect some 1,000 third party contractors if they are unable to relocate to India, the sources said.

The Shell Technology Centre Bangalore (STCB) is to be one of the three global hubs for technology, after Houston and Amsterdam for the energy group.

“By the end of 2010, STCB employed around 700 professionals and has plans to grow to about 1,500 in the near future. Recruitment at STCB is currently focused on graduates in India and experienced Indian professionals,” Shell Global said at its website.

Given this focus, chances are staff now employed at Cyberjaya may find it difficult to be relocated to Cyberjaya, said the sources, and will probably have to look for new jobs here. read more

Warning about working for Shell in Malaysia

Above are screenshots from Shell Malaysia website taken 17 June 2011

Introduction by John Donovan

Many visitors to royaldutchshellplc.com are aware of past litigation involving several hundred thoroughly disgruntled employees of Shell in Malaysia who sued Shell on various grounds, including wrongful dismissal and allegations that Shell management made unlawful deductions from the employee retirement fund.

That was not the only recent litigation.

Eight Royal Dutch Shell Companies joined together to sue a former Shell Malaysia Production Geologist, Dr John Huong (right), to stop him blowing the whistle on management misdeeds, including fraudulently inflating claimed hydrocarbon reserves and putting employee lives at risk due to lax safety procedures. Shell buried Dr Huong in multiple injunctions and made repeated attempts to have him imprisoned before settling the entire litigation out of court. read more

Royal Dutch Shell tried to blackmail reserves whistleblower

Shell lawyers to Dr Huong:

…positive steps must be taken by you to ensure that these notices must be given to all persons’, not only Donovan, who are able to operate and maintain the web site. As such by simply writing to Donovan to request him to remove your postings as you have done is not in full compliance with para 3 of the order of court. We therefore expect you to take all positive steps to ensure the postings are removed and deleted immediately.

In June 2004, EIGHT Royal Dutch Shell companies collectively sued a former Shell Malaysia employee, Dr John Huong (above), for alleged defamation in respect of articles published on this website owned and operated by Alfred and John Donovan. The litigation involved multiple injunctions served against Dr Huong, including  committal proceedings demanding his imprisonment for exposing serious misdeeds by Shell senior management, including the filing of false information about claimed hydrocarbon reserves.

Email received from Caroline Tan disgruntled former employee of Shell Malaysia

Hi John,

I was recently dismissed from Shell Malaysia on medical grounds.  I am a sufferer of major depression which was caused by Shell and its unfair practices.  You may read about my story in my website stated below.  I would like to know if there are successful cases of former Shell employees who were “medically boarded out”.

Thank you.

P/S:  I have just registered myself to your website RoyalDutchShellplc and am awaiting the email with the password.
