LONDON, Dec 4 (Reuters) – Royal Dutch Shell (RDSa.L: QuoteProfile,ResearchStock Buzz) closed its Dutch Pernis refinery, the Europe’s largest, after a fire on Thursday, trade sources said.

This was not yet confirmed by Shell.

A fire broke out near a catalytic cracker to make gasoline and it was brought under control about a hour later, a Rotterdam police spokesman said.

A Shell spokesman said the fire broke out at around 1220 GMT at a pipeline. Nobody was injured.
