On Friday, April 5, we will file the summons with which we will sue Shell for causing climate change. Normally you send a bailiff to hand over the package of paper. But we want to go to Shell headquarters with as many co-claimants as possible to hand over the summons in person. With a march and speeches and music and hundreds of people. So come to The Hague, bring your children, friends and family. And put an end to Shell’s climate destruction together with us.

Come to the Shell headquarters on 5 April!
Date: Fri 29 Mar 2019
Subject: FW: Come to the Shell headquarters on 5 April!
Dear xxxxx
Did you hear it? We sue Shell for causing disastrous climate change. On Friday, April 5, we file the summons at the Shell headquarters in The Hague to officially start the lawsuit. Not only do we send a bailiff to hand over the papers, but we go to Shell headquarters with as many co-claimants as possible to personally hand over the summons.
The lawsuit is already historic – more than 17,000 people have become co-claimants – but it can get even bigger with your help!
Come to The Hague on 5 April at 3:00 pm and help us to show how much public support there is for this trial.
The science is clear: ambitious climate action is urgently needed, but Shell and other fossil companies continue to burn and trade fossil fuels undisturbed. They are even looking for new coal, oil and gas reserves. With the aim of becoming extremely rich at the expense of our climate and our living environment. They continue to influence our government and slow down the energy transition that is essential.
For more than 30 years, Shell has known about the risks of climate change and the threat caused by their core business: fossil fuels. The multinational puts its short-term profits before a viable planet for everyone. They have deceived the public and actively thwarted effective climate policy, while emitting just as much CO2 as the Netherlands as a whole!
This lawsuit is our chance to further break down Shell’s power. Our government, municipalities, research institutes, museums and even schools still find good relationships with Shell more important than a liveable world. With your help, this lawsuit opens their eyes.
Also come to The Hague on April 5! We start at 15:00 at the Malieveld Pavilion.
A fair system based on clean renewable energy in the hands of the community is within our reach. But not so long dirty fossil multinationals such as Shell have power over our government.
Hope to see you next Friday!
