Disgusting treatment of 86 year old by Shell Energy: DO NOT GET THEIR BROADBAND

1 0 Dec 2022

The content below is sourced from current verifiable customer reviews of Shell Energy published on Trustpilot.

My mother-in-law, 84 yrs old, was switched to Shell Energy via the Post Office a couple of years ago, without consultation. She’s never received a paper bill, never set up an online account and had 1 initial letter which she forgot all about..
Having early memory loss issues & a service outrageously slow, she thought her laptop had broken.. @£32 per mth (!!)
We switched companies, providing notification & she’s literally received dozens of threatening emails since, demanding money for a router they didn’t provide, termination fees for a contract she never signed and attempts to access a final bill I already paid.. I’ve called many times, explained the circumstances-they said they would stop.
This is harassment of an elderly woman, shame on you.

Disgusting treatment of 86 year old

Disgusting treatment of 86 year old mum, refusing to switch to a cheaper tariff even though we’ve written to them ? Last letter insisted we ring even she she’s deaf & blind & I have permission to speak but insisting they speak to her ? Been on hold for half an hour ? Can’t get though ? A JOKE of a company & ripping my poor old mum off by keeping her on a higher tariff … will be reporting to the Ombusman

Wretched and incompetent

Apparently Shell is ‘monitoring my complaint’. The net effect so far is absolutely nothing. No communication, no update and most critically, no refund of the money they took from my account after they overcharged me. A note to Shell: you picked on the wrong customer this time. I am not going to give up on this. GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK. A wretched company that deserves to be shut down.

Dreadful customer service.

We got automatically moved to Shell when pure planet went bust. Really fed up of them now. Requested a smart meter 3 months ago as we have Solar PV. Had no response from them so we are currently exporting electricity bacl to the grid for free. They keep trying to increase our monthly direct debit to over £300 a month despite the fact that we have £200 in credit and our last three bills have all been under £100. Just tried to speak to customer services, got hung up on twice after finally getting through and the third time was told I couldn’t do anything on the account as its in my wifes name despite having all the account and billing information. Can’t wait to leave them once the energy crisis is over!

We moved house. We moved energy providers, but did not know that we had to contact the existing energy user of the house we bought. Eventually we got hold of Shell paid to date as we had threatening communication. Only to see that the previous owners put in the meter readings totally wrong. So I emailed Shell on the 25th November stating that the meter readings were incorrect and sent proof of the current meter readings through to them. Not heard from them about the botched meter readings, a letter was sent to say we are in credit, but they owe us close to 200 and we have now changed services. We want our money back not next year BUT NOW !
