Joined Shell Energy and as you can see from my previous review in Dec 2020, I’ve had nothing but issues from the start.
Complaints teams allude to concerns raised but then do nothing about them, forcible increases in monthly payments on a fixed tariff despite usage not increasing, exaggerated estimated readings when their smart meters stops being smart and then added costs per fuel to pay manually in-order to prevent them robbing you blind. Essentially it’s a case of let us rob you, or we’ll rob you.
If you’re currently a shell customer, keep an eye on your meters and check those readings against your bills! The poor staff in their collections dept have more common sense then those in Customer Service

Way to expensive

They tried to get me to join previous, whether its actually them, or a company looking to find new customers, but now pure planet has folded, they are forcing me over, then had the cheek to tell me I’m going on their cheapest rate, which is 3 times the rate I’m on, oh hell no, I won’t be paying a penny, and will be switching instantly, I’m not getting ripped off by this mafia outfit.

I’ve had nothings but issues with shell…

I’ve had nothings but issues with shell due to eye watering bill statements. I’d pay more to get the bill down to then end up with another bill statement to hike it back up again, which ended up in a never ending debt with them. Wasn’t the right company for me.

Uswitch trick

When you use this company estimates your yearly bill below that of your current provider to get you to switch then some time later start ramping up your monthly payment to exactly what it was with your previous provider. So in my case i was paying a £1000 a year to british gas and shell energy said with them it would be £750 for the same energy used so i switched. Aproximately 6 weeks later i get an email saying my direct debit was going to go from £62 per month to £82 eventhough i had not used as much as previous year due to working away nor had i given them a meter reading so nothing had changed that they could have known about from the original information i had supplied. Since then my usage has been the same as usual but i had another request for nearly a £100 a month yesterday and ive given meter readings since then and yet its still costing more. We are on fixed rate and not affected by price rises in the wholesale market so its not that which is causing any increase its just a scam. This isnt a big prob for me i can afford it but if your struggling then this con wont help. Its something that uswitch should be aware of and OFGEM. Neat trick though. And i am fully aware of how direct debit fluctuates according to usage but in this case that has nothing to do with what i am talking about this is to do with sneidy techniques to get people to switch.


I spent 37+ minutes on the phone to Shell Energy at 11.50, chasing the outcome of a previous complaint made on 5.10.21
From the outset I had requested that if I got cut off, they call me back.
The first advisor confirmed that my complaint hadn’t been actioned and I was to be transferred to the right department. Of course, I got cut off.
Now 14.10, as yet no ring back.
I moved away from Shell in September owing to the very poor customer service (during the year I was with them, I requested a smart meter on the web-site and by telephone only to get poor excuses each time) but unfortunately my provider lost their business and I got referred back to Shell by Ofgem.
Poor customer service was expected and I have just been proved right.
There is no confirmation of my new account etc so I cannot log in. The money I had already paid to Green the day before they went bust seems to have just disappeared.

Disgraceful excuse of a company

I have moved into a property supplied by Shell. Immediately changed supplier. I am being harassed by debt agencies for a debt left by previous tenant. I cannot speak to anyone at Shell that is helpful. They cut the calls, transfer me then cut the call. One lady Joanna appeared helpful, promised to send an email and nothing. Today another letter arrived from debt collectors. I’ve spent more than 2 hours holding on Shells phone line. What a complete disgrace. No one helps anymore.

Have been with first utility before….24ct liars to keep your business…have now been dumped back to them owing to the demise of pure planet…will be looking for new supplier asap…..

Total incompetence

Total incompetence. I cancelled 3 days after I signed on. You cancelled British gas and created numerous problems because you’re still going a head with the transfer. GTO AWAY.
