Shell broadband speed is glacially slow

29 June 2022

The content below is sourced from current verifiable customer reviews of Shell Energy published on Trustpilot.

Avoid at all costs

I didn’t ask to be a Shell Broadband customer. I signed up for Post Office broadband, but Shell bought them out and existing PO Broadband customers were forced to migrate to Shell or pay an early termination penalty.  Shell customer service is hopeless, you waste huge amounts of time on the phone trying to contact these people, the broadband speed is glacially slow (and my broadband was meant to be fast but it was hopeless).  I’ve just got rid of them and had to pay £157 for the privilege. Don’t even think about becoming a Shell Broadband customer, it’s not worth the time, money and stress. It’s a rip off.

Totally useless supplier.

Previously with Post Office Broadband which was fine. Since Shell Energy took over completely useless. Constantly losing connection. Failed to inform me that my contract was up for renewal. Asked to upgrade to a bigger download speed and told it would take 2 to 4 works. All in all totally dissatisfied. Have decided to go elsewhere.

Shell broadband AVOID

I have given one star unfortunately you can’t give zero as this broadband is the worst I have ever had even the guy that came to try and solve the problem said it is not fit for purpose. Beware if you do take it as the 14 cooling off period STARTS on the day you phone to take the broadband but they don’t set it up until after the 14 days.I cancelled on the day I received it realising it was not suitable and they charged me £287 YES £287. Steer clear of it.

I am still receiving lying letters and this is harrassment

Shell energy broadband you are still sending me letters telling me to pay a bill & just for the record i am not paying shell energy broadband a penny because i am not a customer of shell energy broadband i was with post office broadband then my contract ended with post office broadband then shell energy broadband has bought post office broadband and then took my information and one of your agents said on the phone that he has mafe me an email adress and i told him he is committing fraud he stole my information just like Matthew the fraudulent Theif from HM Revenue and Customs Dundee department your all a bunch of crooks and liers and you should recieve your letter back Return to sender i am not & i will never pay you for a service i have not recieved if you money grabbin thieves do your job properly then you will see & i have recorded all phone conversations and i will be playing them to the judge what you are doing is unlawful

A complete shambles of a service

A complete shambles of a service. I’m being chased for a £1,600 gas bill for one month! The agent told me last month that it looked wrong and that she would stop the DD. Guess what? I’m being chased for payment now with no update or contact since. When you reply to their text or call on landline you enter the info and get the response ‘I haven’t detected a response. Goodbye!’ and get cut off!!

£2300 per month… JOKE!

Can someone from shell please answer why they want to put up my monthly bill to £2331 from next month when I’m currently in credit and currently use less than the minimum I’m paying!!!

I have contacted shell for them to look into my query and then they leave the online chat without any further response. Whoever “Gareth N” is wasn’t helpful at all and didn’t look into any of my queries. I have screenshots of the conversation!!

I am being charged more than the standard rate capped by the government and no one will answer me!

Who the hell can afford £2331 for electric and gas!!!!

I was transferred to this company by OFGEM when my last provider ended and will be complaining to them if this matter is not resolved.

I am absolutely disgusted and upset that they think this is an acceptable amount for anyone to pay and I ask if their staff would be happy paying this… I bet not!
