Can’t resolve a complaint.

I have had an ongoing complaint with Shell Energy for months regarding the fitting of smart meters. The service has been diabolical and the response to emails slow and unhelpful.
Please avoid using this utility provider as there are much better companies.

Avoid their broadband

Avoid their broadband. While price and billing is good, the actual broadband is terrible – lots of dropped connections, outages and slow speeds. If you’re working from home, it’s worth paying a bit more for stability.

Been with Shell Energy for 18 Months

Been with Shell Energy for 18 Months. Renewed my contract after 12 months for another 12 months all was OK. Have now had an email if I do not install a smart meter the tariff is going to double in the new year. No mention of this in any of the emails I have received, just that the price was fixed until August 2021 which it obviously isn’t. I do not want a smart meter.
Leaving them tonight disgusted with Shell. I am also selling my ‘A’ and ‘B’ shares and will never spend a penny of my hard earned with them again. Takes them 17 days to reply to an email! Fixed price contract “no sorry and we are going to charge you a £60 exit fee to switch you to our higher tariff also”. Need to honour contracts.

Not a good start.

Just moved to Shell and not a good start. I’ve Economy 7 and my opening meter readings were given via online chat. Unfortunately despite clearly typing Night reading and Day reading the figures were transposed by the agent. I noticed that day and after a 45 minute wait spoke to someone who told me to take readings 2 hours apart to check which was night and day on my smart meter. I did and replied via email a few hours after the phone call. Then heard nothing back. Went back to online chat to be told that “Unfortunately, the flows were already sent to the Industry, so we will not be able to change them now. We will need to raise a dispute to amend the initial meter readings” I thought changing suppliers was supposed to be easy.

Extortionate prices

Extortionate prices. My quarterly bill was £1056 for my gas and electric. Mortified as my first bill was just over £800. I was previously with green star who were great where I paid around £600 quarterly through the winter yet this company charges more in the summer. I found my gas bill was not to bad but my electric was strangely high. I have now switched and will not touch this company with a barge pole again I am so upset as I never chose to be with them, yet the moment I found out I was with them I had a high bill that left me stuck with them
Until I could pay it off. I was also charged £60 for leaving despite not ever asking to be with this company. I will be taking this further

Useless and Immoral Company

Hi, I bought a house in September 2020 which had been supplied by a supply company that was taken over by Shell Energy. I of course took meter readings and phoned Shell to submit them but they said that it was premature as they had not completed the switchover from the old company. I then opened an online account, but after 10 weeks this still says: “This account will be available soon”

Imagine my horror when returning to the house, which is empty and being refurbished, that Shell Energy had set debt collectors onto me and placed me on punitive “deemed” rates.

That is right – Shell Energy cannot even get their administration working properly so I can manage and settle my account, but they can hound me with debt collectors and threats. I hate to think what they would do to people who are vulnerable.
